GARLANDS FOR THE GOLDEN BOY OF KORONGOSO @56 By Hon. Inuwa Bwala

01:03 0

Very often, when Kashim Shettima  reflects upon his own life, he says; that, nobody gave him the chance: a Kwayam boy from Nimeri Korongoso, the chance in his meteoric rise to stardom.

Not in a society where one's progress is largely determined at the whims and caprices of the rich and  the mighty: the class to which  his family did not belong.

Way back in school, we regard those of them who came from the metropolitan center as shinning examples, being children of the elites, that were to  determine the fates of those of us coming from the villages. We never fathomed, that they have their own class distinctions out there, which placed some others higher in the social strata.

The family vocation and  background from which he comes; may not qualify  Kashim Shettima as one, born with a golden or silver spoon in the mouth, but it is also inappropriate to say  he is of a poor background.

Today, virtually everybody, whose paths have crossed with Senator Kashim Shettima, may be planning to impress him in one way or the other, as he clicks 56.

Most of them : not so much for the year he has added to his age, but for the fact that, he has risen in fame, and is the possible next Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Christened the Golden Boy, by his admirers: Kashim Shettima is not expecting anything less either, in the face of his political ascendence,  in the last few years.

Amongst those who celebrate him today, is the clan of successful politicians and technocrats, whom he built and nurtured, since he came into political limelight: the group to which I also belong.

In the next few days, Newspaper advertisements, Radio and Television placements, as well as the Social Media space will be fully occupied with congratulatory messages to Senator Kashim Shettima, for clocking 56 years and for being identified and picked as the running mate to the Presidential standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the 2023 Presidential election.

Kashim Shettima is going to be told, how his intellectualism, political vision and sagacity, fidelity, tolerance,  patience and honesty, and above all his statemanship, are paying off.

He will probably be reminded, that, the virtues he displayed as Governor, the leadership qualities he demonstrated as leader of the Northern Governor's' Forum, the vision he had in discovering Babagana Umara Zulum, the display of brilliance in his contributions in the Senate, the many of  his mesmerizing pieces of oratory excellence at public functions and above all, the clan of political associates he has assembled over the years will work for him. Shettima will be told how it is now payback time  for  his support to the APC and by extension to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Presidential standard bearer.

It is no longer a matter of choice for him to decide how his birthday is going to be celebrated. Before now, he preferred to have it low keyed: restricted amongst family, friends and a few associates. Kashim Shettima us today a national asset, and a cousin to everybody, including those who hitherto were reluctant to identify with him.

His emergence as the potential Vice President is fast rewriting the narrative, which sought to write him off politically, just as it makes him the beautiful bride, in Nigeria's quest for purposeful leadership.

As the hour closes on the actual celebrations, the true friends shall be judged by their outings, in the way and manner they celebrate Kashim Shettima. Before then, this is to wish my brother, my friend, my compatriot and my boss, Happy 56th Birthday.

Daysman oyakhilome woghiren reply for His sack

16:11 0

So for several days, I've been asked by many news agencies and big media to say something regarding the very interesting happenings in the past weeks..

. If not for the names involved, I'd very much remain silent.

"Where I come from sons do not fight with Fathers, it is a curse! You just have to believe that they see what you do not see and trust in their process.

If all Jesus saw was the death on the cross he would have missed the bigger picture of the resurrection, everyone had to see him die to end all debate on his resurrection,  if he hadn't died, his divinity would still be up for debate. Point made- God does not hide His love even when it's the tough kind.

It is unfair to have been given more opportunities than almost anyone in your generation and not expect to be more challenged than almost anyone in your generation, if you didn't have a future ahead of you, the Lord wouldn't provide you the tools and people to solidify your character and person.

Moreso we were raised to defend the actions and guidance of our fathers no matter what and see the value in it, you can never go wrong for it

If you loved the teacher when he provided you with knowledge, do not love him less when he presents you with an examination.

You cannot tell a father how to raise his son.

If he didn't think I could take it, then he wouldn't have done it.

For those of you having mixed reactions.... Note that there were fathers who took their sons to a mountain to offer as burnt offering to the Lord in the bible.

One sent his to a cross 😀

Aren't you glad I didn't end up as one of those two???

It is a blessing to be corrected by your father.

A father is the greatest gift to your future.

For those suggesting that I share my personal opinions on how I feel I should have been treated and share my views, hoping to politicize this, "I am too afraid to lay my hand on the lord's anointed" God forbids!

And plus it felt interesting to have been the most searched person in the world for one week.😊

I didn't know my matter had this much influence, dethroning big brother  from net space.

I am wise enough to see God's favor in His process.

ZULUM at 53 by Hon. Inuwa Bwala

15:21 0

Gov. Zulum: A Prodigy @53

I hold that, the most successful people in life are often those who have known suffering, who have known loss, who have met failures, defeats and general challenges and have found their ways out of those depths of abandonment.

I am familiar with the adage that, "success has many parents, but failure is an orphan"and I feel that, maker of above statement seem to have  Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum at the back of his mind.

Perhaps, there was no significant landmark at his birth in that obsecure environment, typical of a rural setting. There might not have been signs either, that, a unique child had been born. But as the saying goes, "The year you were born marks only your entry into the world. Other years when you prove your worth are the ones worth celebrating.

What people are celebrating today is not his birth, rather his rise from obsecurity to walk in the corridors of power and affluence. Here is a  man who was born into poverty, unnoticed by the world , but who turned around his fortunes for the best.

Professor Babagana Umara Zulum's exploits in life today have given him so many parents and siblings, each of whom want to identify with him.

I dare say, that, from a humble but noble background, Zulum rose from the obsecure Mafa town of Borno State to walk in the corridors and pull the reins of power in a manner that is uncommon in the country's history.

So, I  woke up this morning at a labyrinth: with the urge to write something and  be amongst the many parents of Professor Zulum, knowing today marks his fifty second birthday, but not knowing at which point to take off. It is further compounded by the fact that, there is no language one can use as accolade on the Governor that has not already been used by others.

The story of Professor Babagana Umara Zulum is no longer new, one unique thing about it however, is the fact that, behind the fine and impressive stories told about the man is a very expensive sacrifice, which many leaders may not be able to offer, for the service of other men and the country.

Professor Zulum's life story often elicits emotions looking back at where he came from, compared to where God has  catapulted him today.

No story can be more expensive than the story of a man who had to ferry firewood from the bush, serve as motor boy, commercial bus driver and performed other minimal jobs in order to survive and to pay for his way through school to the point of Professorship.

I could imagine as a young man, when  he trekked in the hot sands of Maiduguri to attend lectures from where he worked for others on empty stomach.

Everytime I mention Zulum, I never fail to pay special tribute to his predecessor, Senator Kashim Shettima, whom God blessed with the exceptional foresight to promote his candidature. Many people did not believe Kashim Shettima when he told stakeholders, before picking Zulum, that he was giving Borno the best. Events have vindicated him.

Of all the sacrifices Zulum has to offer, the most expensive remains his offer to die, but so that peace will come to Borno and that his people are bailed out of twelve years of suffering.

Fifty times they tried to take his life and fifty times he survived. At every instance, Zulum returns to the enclave where attempts were made on his life, giving people a sense of citizenship and offers of livelihood.

Very often, his lieutanants are reluctant going with him to some of the dangerous spots across the state, but very often too, such spots are his favourite places to visit.

I do not want to delve into his developmental projects, as I believe the compendium on his media outings has adequately captured that. I also know that documentaries have covered all areas, but I could not resist mentioning some of those attributes that stand him out.

I believe that Zulum's successes are not measured by his accomplishments alone, but by the opposition he encountered and the courage with which he maintained the struggle for peace, justice and equity in Borno state. These could be seen in many of his actions and utterances, which have also served as the compass for members of his cabinet and his other aides.

Perhaps, his quest for a peaceful Borno remains one of the legacies Governor Zulum shall always be remembered for.

His passion for the return peace and the relocation of citizens to their ancestral abodes remain uncompromising. This perhaps informed by schools gives hope.

I would have continued, but that will take me into areas, I earlier tried avoiding.

I wish our Governor a happy birthday and pray, that, the God who saved him from the hands of those who wished him dead, will uphold him.
